If there is an older version of ACU-XE installed on the system, please use "rpm -e cpqacuxe" to remove it first. Use "rpm -i " to install the server. Please type "man rpm" for other details regarding RPM. The software resides in /usr/lib, /opt/compaq/cpqacuxe and the executable name is cpqacuxe which is located in /usr/sbin. Run the ACU-XE server: Make sure that you have gone through the following checklist: . Change the ACU-XE administrator password to something other than the default. - Refer to step 3 in "Run the ACU-XE client" section. . Only run ACU-XE on servers that are on a local intranet or a secure network. . Secure the management port (port 2301) on your network. . You run cpqacuxe as root. To start the server: If /usr/sbin is already added in your path, just type: "cpqacuxe" for local access only or "cpqacuxe -R" for remote access. More options can be found by "cpqacuxe --help". Run the ACU-XE client: 1. Open your browser (Netscape Navigator 4.7x, or Mozilla on Linux or Internet Explorer 5.0 or above on Microsoft Windows NT 4.0/Windows 2000. If remote access is enabled: 2a. Type "http://SERVERNAME:2301" into the url field. The servername should be the IP address or server name of the host on which the ACU-XE server is running. If remote access is disabled: 2b. Type "http://127.0.0.1:2301" into the url field on the machine on which the ACU-XE server is running. 3. On the Device Home Page that opens in the browser, click the anonymous link near the top of the screen. You should now see a login screen. 4. Enter your username and password. For first-time use, these will both be administrator. Change the password to something else if you have not done that. NOTE: You can change the username or password by clicking the appropriate link on this screen. The choice of username is limited to user, guest, or administrator. When you have successfully logged in, you should see the Device Home Page again. 5. Click the ACU-XE button near the bottom of the screen. Exiting ACU-XE: 1. To exit the ACU-XE client, close the browser by clicking on the Exit link. 2. To exit the ACU-XE server, type "cpqacuxe -stop". Additional Notes ---------------- 1. Users will automatically be logged out after a predetermined period of inactivity when using ACU-XE and will have to re-login. 2. On the Web-based Management Device Homepage, under "options", "Anonymous Access" should be enabled when using ACU-XE. 3. When clicking on a controller that is currently being configured in a different ACU-XE session, a message will appear which allows you to override the other ACU-XE session or cancel. If you choose to override the other ACU-XE session, any unsaved changes in the other session will be discarded. 4. To properly exit out of ACU-XE session, click on the Exit link in the ACU-XE window. 5. ACU-XE is best viewed in Netscape with Verdana and Arial fonts. It is recommended that you install these fonts. 6. CCISS and CPQARRAY drivers support up to 16 logical drives per controller. After creating or deleting logical drives with ACU-XE, under some special circumstances, the device name mapping might change after you first reboot the system. Also, Linux might see previously not visible logical drives after rebooting. This name mapping problem is common to all SCSI devices on linux. Please refer to drive_reordering.htm in the installation directory for detailed explaination. 7. Do not insert or remove a controller driver module when cpqacuxe is running. 8. Please stop the HP Storage Agents when deleting logical drives since HP Storage Agents keeps all logical drives open. 9. If all physical drives on a controller fail or are removed, software keys will not be saved to the controller. . Known Issues ------------ The following are known issues in this version of ACU-XE and Netscape Navigator 4.7x: 1. Sometimes the login on the Device Home Page will not work the first time. Click on the Device Home Page link again or refresh the page and re-login. 2. Resizing the Netscape browser window in the middle of an ACU-XE session will cause the session to close and any unsaved changes will be lost. 3. Dragging and dropping ACU-XE pages between Netscape frames is not supported. 4. Pressing the "Esc" key while an ACU-XE page is loading in Netscape will cause that page to stop loading. This will cause the current ACU-XE session to terminate and any unsaved changes will be lost. The user will have to restart the ACU-XE session. 5. Closing the Netscape browser window will not close the ACU-XE session properly. Use the Exit link in ACU-XE to close the ACU-XE session properly. (see Additional Note #4 above.) If you close ACU-XE by closing the Netscape browser window and open a new ACU-XE session and click on the same controller, you will have to override the old ACU-XE session. (see Additional Note #3 above.) 6. Netscape sometimes stops animating animated GIFs. ACU-XE uses animated GIFs to indicate status information (i.e. saving, expanding, etc.) 7. Netscape message boxes are non-modal. This means users can ignore message alerts that ask the user to press the OK button to continue. It is recommended that you read all message alerts and press OK before continuing. It is also recommended that you set the display resolution to be 800x600 or higher. 8. When the server is processing information, Netscape only shows the hourglass cursor over the current frame that is loading. In other frames, the normal arrow cursor will be displayed even though you will not be able to click on anything until the server completes its processing. 9. If Netscape ever shows an "HTTP 404 Not Found" error during an ACU-XE session, close Netscape and re-open it to restart the ACU-XE session.
