The Compaq ProLiant ML330e uses the CMD 649 IDE chipset. Support for this chipset is not explicitly present in Linux kernels before 2.4.1. Because of that, the IDE subsystem will run in PIO mode by default. This package installs a small shell script to turn on DMA mode on all ATA disk drives insstlled in the server at boot time. The script will be found as /etc/rc.d/init.d/cpqhdparm, with symlinks to /etc/rc.d/rc3.d/S01cpqhdparm and /etc/rc.d/rc5.d/S01cpqhdparm. The script will be called at boot time as part of the normal initialization process. If you are running a 2.4.1 or later kernel you do not need this RPM. Type rpm -i cpqhdparm-1.0.2-i386.rpm to install the RPM. Type rpm -qi cpqhdparm to verify that the package installed properly.
