FILE NAME: hpahcisr-1.2.1-3.sles10.x86_64.dd.gz TITLE: Driver diskette for HP Smart Array B110i SATA RAID Controller (AMD64/EM64T) for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) VERSION: 1.2.1-3 LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: Driver Diskettes DIVISION: N/A OPERATING SYSTEM: SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes DESCRIPTION: This driver diskette image provides the binary driver module pre-built for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 to enable software RAID for the embedded ICH10R controller. Using this driver diskette at SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 installation time is required to enable software RAID on systems with the embedded ICH10R controller. FIXES * Thu Apr 16 2009 Linux Storage Driver Team 1.2.1-3 - Change to driver build process to reduce driver size and reducing Driver Diskette size to fit on a floppy. * Fri Apr 3 2009 Linux Storage Driver Team 1.2.1-2 - Update to drive LED support. - Update to driver to better support drive reporting by HP server agents. * Mon Mar 23 2009 Linux Storage Driver Team 1.2.1-1 ENHANCEMENTS * Thu Apr 16 2009 Linux Storage Driver Team 1.2.1-3 * Fri Apr 3 2009 Linux Storage Driver Team 1.2.1-2 * Mon Mar 23 2009 Linux Storage Driver Team 1.2.1-1 - Added drive HotPlug support. - Added drive LED support. - Added support for up to 6 drives. - Port to SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 11. SUPPORTED KERNELS: The kernels of SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) supported by this driver diskette are: 2.6.16.60-0.21 - SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 SP 2 (AMD64/EM64T) SUPPORTED DEVICES AND FEATURES Embedded ICH10R Controller CREATING A DRIVER DISKETTE MAKING A DISKETTE UNDER A LINUX-LIKE OS: 1) Save the "hpahcisr-1.2.1-3.sles10.x86_64.dd.gz" file into a temporary directory. Use GUNZIP to extract "hpahcisr-1.2.1-3.sles10.x86_64.dd" from this file into the same directory 2) To make a diskette under Linux (or any other Linux-like operating system), you must have permission to write to the device representing a 3.5-inch diskette drive (known as /dev/fd0 under Linux) 3) First, label a blank, formatted diskette appropriately (ProLiant SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 Driver Diskette). Insert the diskette into the floppy drive, but DO NOT issue the mount command: # dd if=hpahcisr-1.2.1-3.sles10.x86_64.dd of=/dev/fd0 bs=1440k 4) This command creates a diskette containing the image of the input file (if=hpahcisr-1.2.1-3.sles10.x86_64.dd) to an output file (of=/dev/fd0) using the diskette size of 1440k (1.44MB). To make another diskette label that diskette, and run "dd" again, specifying the correct input file. INSTALLATION *** Important Note for RHEL5 ONLY *** Once the OS is installed but before clicking the reboot button do the following. Failure to do so will cause the system to panic and not boot. 1. press CTRL+ALT+F2 2. cp -a /tmp/ramfs/DD-0 /mnt/sysimage/tmp 3. chroot /mnt/sysimage 4. cd /tmp/DD-0 5. sh ./fix_driver_order 6. cd / 7. press CTRL+ALT_F6 and click reboot *** Important Note for SLES10 & SLES11 *** SLES10 32-bit: Two boot options required are: "broken_modules=ahci" and "pci=noapic" SLES10 64-bit: One boot option required is: "broken_modules=ahci" SLES11 32-bit: One boot option required is: "broken_modules=ahci" SLES11 64-bit: One boot option required is: "broken_modules=ahci" NOTES MD5SUM: 3437194ec4ea5829ced6a0795056347b Feedback -------- To provide kernel/driver development feedback send email to iss_storagedev@hp.com Customer Service ---------------- For support for ProLiant Smart Array controllers, please visit http://welcome.hp.com/country/us/en/contact_us.html Copyright 2002-2009 Hewlett-Packard Development Company, L.P.
