FILE NAME: mptlinux-4.00.06.01-1.sles10.x86_64.dd.gz TITLE: Driver diskette for HP U320 SCSI Adapter, SAS HBA with RAID, SCxxXe and SCxxGe HBA series (AMD64/EM64T) for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) VERSION: 4.00.06.01-1 LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: Driver Diskettes DIVISION: N/A OPERATING SYSTEM: SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes DESCRIPTION: This driver diskette image provides the binary driver module pre-built for SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) to enable the HP ProLiant 64-bit/133-MHz Dual Channel Ultra320 SCSI HBA and HP U320 64-Bit Single Channel SCSI G2 HBA, HP U320 64-Bit Single Channel SCSI HBA, HP 8 Internal Port SAS/SATA HBA with RAID and HP 4 Internal Port SAS HBA with RAID, HP SCxxXe and SCxxGe series of HBA. Using this driver diskette at SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 installation time allows the most up-to-date driver version included in the diskette to be used, rather than the default driver version contained in the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 installation CD. FIXES - Fixed an issue where a degraded RAID 1 volume will be mounted as ‘read-only’ when an I/O was sent to the volume at the time of failure. ENHANCEMENTS - Added support for Service Pack 1. - New “on the fly” enabling of debug logging via SysFS located in /sys/class/scsi_host/host#/debug_level. The kernels of SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 (AMD64/EM64T) supported by this driver diskette are: 2.6.16.46-0.12 - SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 SP 1 (AMD64/EM64T) CREATING A DRIVER DISKETTE MAKING A DISKETTE UNDER A LINUX-LIKE OS: 1) Save the "mptlinux-4.00.06.01-1.sles10.x86_64.dd.gz" file into a temporary directory. Use GUNZIP to extract "mptlinux-4.00.06.01-1.sles10.x86_64.dd" from this file into the same directory 2) To make a diskette under Linux (or any other Linux-like operating system), you must have permission to write to the device representing a 3.5-inch diskette drive (known as /dev/fd0 under Linux) 3) First, label a blank, formatted diskette appropriately (ProLiant SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 Driver Diskette). Insert the diskette into the floppy drive, but DO NOT issue the mount command: # dd if=mptlinux-4.00.06.01-1.sles10.x86_64.dd of=/dev/fd0 bs=1440k 4) This command creates a diskette containing the image of the input file (if=mptlinux-4.00.06.01-1.sles10.x86_64.dd) to an output file (of=/dev/fd0) using the diskette size of 1440k (1.44MB). To make another diskette label that diskette, and run "dd" again, specifying the correct input file. INSTALLATION 1. Boot from the SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 10 disc 1. A list of options will appear in a menu list for 20 seconds. You must select Installation, press F6 for Driver Update and then press Enter. 2. Insert the driver diskette when prompted. Press Enter. 3. A dialog will be presented with the message Please choose the Driver Update Medium. From the menu list, select fd0 (floppy), select the OK button and press Enter. 4. The driver diskette will be scanned and you will see the message Reading the Driver Update... and then the message Driver Update OK. Press Enter. 5. The dialog in step 4 will reappear. Select Back and press Enter. Note: If HP System Insight Manager support is required, please install the latest Proliant Support Pack and mptlinux-4.00.06.01-1.sles10.x86_64.rpm after the OS has completed its installation process and system has rebooted.
