HP-ASRD(8) HP Advanced Server Recovery Daemon HP-ASRD(8) NAME hp-asrd - HP Advanced Server Recovery Daemon SYNOPSIS hp-asrd [OPTION]... DESCRIPTION The HP Advanced Server Recovery Daemon provides a mechanism for auto- matically restarting your system in the event of an unrecoverable oper- ating system hang. hp-asrd makes use of the various hardware watchdog features provided across the HP ProLiant product line. By default, hp-asrd will automatically detect the watchdog mechanisms available on the system and select the one recommended by HP. hp-asrd will also, by default, make use of the ASR settings defined in the ROM- Based Setup Utility (RBSU). These settings maybe overridden by modify- ing the initscript (/etc/init.d/hp-asrd). The HP ProLiant ROM will check a status bit on the ASM hardware to see if an ASR event took place and will log a message to the IML as such. The message logged will be "ASR Detected by System ROM". Note: Prior to hp-health 8.5.0, ASR functionality was managed directly by the health daemon. OPTIONS The following is a list of features supported by the hpasmd applica- tion: -p INTERVAL Polling Interval (seconds) -t TIMEOUT Timeout Interval (seconds) -m MODE Specify a watchdog usage mode. MODE can be one of the following: auto The default. Probe for available modes in order of pref- erence. The order of preference follows the same order listed below. hpwdt Use the /dev/watchdog interface if it is provided by the hpwdt driver. This device is only supported on iLO2/iLO3. iloraw Use the iLO2/iLO3 watchdog via raw /dev/mem accesses. This makes use of the same underlying hardware as the hpwdt driver, and should only be used if the hpwdt driver is not available. ipmiwd Use the /dev/watchdog interface if it is provided by the ipmi_watchdog driver. devwd Use the /dev/watchdog interface, regardless of which driver is providing it. -d Debug mode, stay in foreground. -h Display help information.
