SUPPORTED KERNELS: The kernels of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (x86) supported by this driver diskette are: 2.6.32-71.el6 - Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 (x86) and future update kernels SUPPORTED DEVICES AND FEATURES Smart Array B110i Controller CREATING A DRIVER DISKETTE MAKING A DISK UNDER A LINUX-LIKE OS: Save the "hpahcisr-1.2.6-7.rhel6.i686.dd.gz" file into a temporary directory. Use GUNZIP to extract "hpahcisr-1.2.6-7.rhel6.i686.dd" from this file into the same directory You can make either write the Driver Disk image file to a floppy or a USB key. For a USB key for Red Hat and SuSE dd if=hpahcisr-1.2.6-7.rhel6.i686.dd of=/dev/sd? Where "?" is a letter representing the USB key device. NOTE THAT THIS WILL OVERWRITE THE ENTIRE USB KEY. Optional USB key for Red Hat. Red Hat can access Driver Disk image files that reside on the filesystem of a USB key. Just mount your USB key and copy the "hpahcisr-1.2.6-7.rhel6.i686.dd" file to the mounted directory. For a floppy: dd if=hpahcisr-1.2.6-7.rhel6.i686.dd of=/dev/fd0 bs=1440k INSTALLATION *** Important Note for RHEL6 *** You must included the following install boot command when installing the hpahcisr with the Driver Update Disk image. blacklist=ahci New to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 Driver Update Disks is the installation of the kmod-hpahcisr rpm. KMOD RPM will install binary driver that supports Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 and the errata kernels made available for this release. Once installed these drivers will be carried forward with each errata kernel upgrade using facilities included in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6. This is a big improvement from previouse releases allowing the customer to not wait on driver updates when errata kernels are released.
