SUPPORTED KERNELS: The kernels of SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 11 (AMD64/EM64T) supported by this driver diskette are: 2.6.27.19-5 - SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 11 (AMD64/EM64T) SUPPORTED DEVICES AND FEATURES Embedded ICH10R Controller CREATING A DRIVER DISKETTE MAKING A DISKETTE UNDER A LINUX-LIKE OS: 1) Save the "hpahcisr-1.2.4-14.sles11.x86_64.dd.gz" file into a temporary directory. Use GUNZIP to extract "hpahcisr-1.2.4-14.sles11.x86_64.dd" from this file into the same directory 2) To make a diskette under Linux (or any other Linux-like operating system), you must have permission to write to the device representing a 3.5-inch diskette drive (known as /dev/fd0 under Linux) 3) First, label a blank, formatted diskette appropriately (ProLiant SUSE LINUX Enterprise Server 11 Driver Diskette). Insert the diskette into the floppy drive, but DO NOT issue the mount command: # dd if=hpahcisr-1.2.4-14.sles11.x86_64.dd of=/dev/fd0 bs=1440k 4) This command creates a diskette containing the image of the input file (if=hpahcisr-1.2.4-14.sles11.x86_64.dd) to an output file (of=/dev/fd0) using the diskette size of 1440k (1.44MB). To make another diskette label that diskette, and run "dd" again, specifying the correct input file. INSTALLATION *** Important Note for RHEL5 ONLY *** Once the OS is installed but before clicking the reboot button do the following. Failure to do so will cause the system to panic and not boot. 1. press CTRL+ALT+F2 2. cp -a /tmp/ramfs/DD-0 /mnt/sysimage/tmp 3. chroot /mnt/sysimage 4. cd /tmp/DD-0 5. sh ./fix_driver_order 6. cd / 7. press CTRL+ALT_F6 and click reboot *** Important Note for SLES10 *** SLES10 32-bit: Two boot options required are: "broken_modules=ahci" and "pci=noapic" SLES10 64-bit: One boot option required is: "broken_modules=ahci" *** Important Note for SLES11 *** SLES11 32-bit: One boot option required is: "broken_modules=ahci" SLES11 64-bit: One boot option required is: "broken_modules=ahci" NOTE: If you are using a USB Flash/Floppy drive, do not boot the system with the Flash/Floppy inserted. This can cause grub to assume the wrong boot device. The steps are: 1. Do not boot with USB Flash/Floppy inserted. 2. Add USB Flash/Floppy when the popup window "Please choose the Driver Update Medium." appears. 3. In the popup window, choose "other". 4. For the device name, enter "sda". 5. When the popup window "Please choose the Driver Update Medium." re-appears, remove the USB flash/floppy. 6. Select the "Back" button.
